Some current and recent projects:
I’m Communications Officer for Filey Bird Observatory & Group, which involves a variety of roles including organising the group’s events and activities, running the group’s website and social media, co-editing the widely-acclaimed annual report, co-ordinating the observatory’s surveys and delivering community engagement among other responsibilities.
I’m wildlife guide, content writer and photographer for Yorkshire Coast Nature, a local nature tour company specialising in exploring the wildlife of Yorkshire’s coast, forests and moors.
I’m a Fellow of The International League of Conservation Writers, and write for various publications – see here for a recent selection.
I’m a field ornithologist with many year’s experience in a wide variety of habitats and on a wide variety of projects from the Outer Hebrides to Kent, for a wide variety of organisations including RSPB, SNH, Natural England, Environment Agency and many others.
I’m currently studying for a BSc in Environmental Sciences.
I monitor the seabird colony on Filey Cliffs on behalf of the RSPB.
I ran the birding communications for RSPB Bempton Cliffs in 2015-16 after being commissioned to promote and develop the newly relaunched flagship reserve with the birding community.
I was the Cockney Sparrow Project Officer & Expert Birder for London Wildlife Trust (2009-2011). My work was the subject of this award-winning film:
I was The Wildlife Trust‘s Walthamstow Reservoirs Community Project Officer in East London (2008 / 2012), and continue to provide engagement and outreach for the project.
I’m a Section Writer for the Yorkshire Bird Report, and sit on the publications sub-group for Flamborough Bird Observatory.
I keep an online wildlife photo-journal at Northern Rustic, which includes local and international wanderings.
I was Middlesex Bird Recorder for the London Natural History Society from 2006-2011, and ran Hackney Wildlife Group during the same period.
